How the daily puzzle works
NFL Wordle picks one mystery player from a pool of 456 recognisable starters, in a fixed order set the day the game launched — Friday, July 17, 2026, puzzle #1. Every puzzle number after that just counts the days since launch, so today (Thursday, August 27, 2026) is puzzle #42. The order never reshuffles, so a given puzzle number is always the same player, forever — that's what makes a shared result grid a fair comparison between players.
A new puzzle unlocks at midnight UTC, every day, worldwide — not at midnight in your own timezone. This page is rebuilt fresh every day the puzzle changes, and a small script also re-checks the date directly in your browser when the page loads, so it self-corrects even if you're looking at a cached copy from just before the rollover.
Today's hints

Today's player is a Offensive Line.
Hint 2 — Team, conference & division
He plays for the San Francisco 49ers, in the NFC West.

Frequently asked questions
What is today's NFL Wordle answer?
Today is puzzle #42 (Thursday, August 27, 2026). We don't spoil it in the page text — use the hints above to narrow it down, or tap "Reveal today's full answer" to see the mystery player's name and full profile instantly.
What time does the NFL Wordle puzzle reset?
A new puzzle unlocks at midnight UTC — 8 PM Eastern, 7 PM Central, 6 PM Mountain, and 5 PM Pacific during Daylight Saving Time (one hour earlier in each zone during Standard Time). This page recomputes the current puzzle number in your own browser on load, so it stays correct even if you load a cached copy right at the rollover.
Is there an archive of past NFL Wordle answers?
Yes — every puzzle NFL Wordle has ever run is listed in the archive below, from puzzle #1 (Friday, July 17, 2026) through today's puzzle, each hidden behind its own spoiler toggle so browsing the list never accidentally spoils one you haven't solved yet.
Are there hints for NFL Wordle?
Yes, on this page. Three progressive hints reveal position, then team/conference/division, then college and entry year — in that order, without ever naming the player — so you can stop as soon as you have enough to guess. The game itself has no built-in hint button; every guess you make there doubles as your own hint.
How many guesses do I get, and what counts as a miss?
You get 8 guesses per daily puzzle. Team, conference, division, and position are hard hit-or-miss; height, age, jersey number, and years of experience turn amber when you're close and show an arrow pointing toward the real answer. Run out of guesses and the game reveals the player automatically.
How is NFL Wordle different from the NYT Wordle?
The loop is the same — one puzzle a day, a fixed number of tries, colour feedback after each guess — but the secret is a person, not a five-letter word. Every NFL Wordle guess returns eight football clues (team, conference, division, position, height, age, jersey number, experience) instead of letter positions, and the numeric clues carry a directional arrow the original Wordle doesn't have.
Is NFL Wordle affiliated with the NFL?
No. NFL Wordle is an independent, unofficial fan game — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by the NFL or any team. Player names and public facts (team, position, height, age, jersey number, college) are used for informational purposes only, with no photos, silhouettes, or team logos anywhere on the site.
Can I share my result without spoiling the answer?
Yes — on the game page itself, "Share result" copies a spoiler-free grid of green, amber, and grey squares plus your score and the puzzle number, the same format Wordle popularised. This answers page is the opposite: it names the player outright, so only open the reveal panels once you're done guessing.
